BOREHOLE TEST CAPACITY
Borehole test capacity is a test to see the balance between the maximum amount of water that can be pumped out and the amount of water that recharges back from the surrounding groundwater source
The Test is the continuous pumping of water for an extended period of time.
During the pumping period, measurements are made of:-
- The rate at which water is being pumped out of the borehole
- the distance the water level is lowered in the borehole as a result of the pumping known as the drawdown
Balance is achieved when the water level, within the borehole stops dropping for a given discharge rate. Once the balance is achieved, less pumping results in less drawdown.
